Globe thistle grows well on calcareous and chalk soils in wastelands, mountain slopes, hills and ravines, among bushes. You can recommend sowing wastelands, ravines and ditches near apiaries with a Globe thistle. Due to its powerful root system, which goes deep into the soil, the Globe thistle is widely used as a plant - an amelioration plant to anchor the banks, ravines and slopes. In medicine, fruits (achenes) are used, from which echinopsin is isolated. This substance has a cardiotonic effect; in small doses it increases, and in large doses it lowers blood pressure. It is used for paresis, paralysis, plexitis, radiculitis and hypotension. Preparations containing echinopsin are used only under the strict supervision of a physician, since the plant has a strong effect on the central nervous system. In Tibetan medicine, the roots of the Daurian Globe thistle are used.
